SmartBalancer2 – On the track of hidden unbalance
Unbalance in rotating plant and machinery parts can lead to premature wear, poor energy efficiency and even to complete rotor failure. SmartBalancer2, Schenck RoTec’s portable measuring instrument tracks hidden unbalance to ensure that rotors run at low vibration.
Easy to handle and easy to operate: Machine dismantling is unnecessary with SmartBalancer2. Rotors of almost all size and weight classes can be checked in one and two planes – static and/or dynamic – directly on the machine whilst it is running.
With SmartBalancer2 commissioning, service and maintenance specialists are able to determine from the outside just where unbalance is arising in rotors installed. The instrument measures mechanical vibration, which provides a reliable indication of any unbalance. In compliance with ISO 10816-3 and ISO 1940 this compact and easy to handle instrument enables absolute vibration to be measured over a wide range and compared with limit values.
SmartBalancer2 applies two-channel frequency analysis on the basis of fast-fourier-transformation (FFT). This method splits the spectrum of vibrations occurring on the machine into its harmonic components and displays them as spectral lines with frequencies and amplitudes. These individual frequencies provide information about the causes of vibration as well as the position and type of the defective rotors.
SmartBalancer2 also has numerous memory and reporting functions for documentation. Data can be printed out directly or transferred to a PC or Notebook for further processing with Office programs. Intuitive menu guidance and images displayed in the Windows format also make this a handy, user-friendly instrument.
