Dürr Ecoclean reports high demand for its EcoLution product line
05/15/2007
Monschau, 15 May 2007 – Just four weeks after the introduction of the new EcoLution product line, Dürr Ecoclean GmbH has already sold eleven EcoLution systems. This rapid success demonstrates that both the EcoCtrans transfer system with high throughput and the highly flexible EcoCFlex robot cell meet the market’s demands on high quality cleaning and efficiency.
The new systems have been bought by renowned vehicle manufacturers and suppliers. BMW, a pioneer in the use of flexible production systems for manufacturing engines, places particularly high demands on the flexibility of cleaning systems. “We need high flexibility and adaptability in all areas of production to provide a sustainable and efficient answer to the combined requirements of product range, product complexity, a high rate of innovation and limited predictability of future technological and market developments” explains Dr. Karl-Friedrich Koch, Head of BMW’s Engine Planning Division. BMW is already using a preliminary version of the EcoLution system on its current production line. The system was developed jointly by Dürr Ecoclean and BMW. It has also ordered two further EcoCFlex cleaning systems.
The light metal processor and automotive supplier, Honsel, in Nuremberg, is also enjoying the benefits of the EcoCFlex system.
There has also been international success. Renault has ordered two EcoCTrans systems to clean engine blocks at its Valldolid site in Spain. Hyundai has ordered a further transfer system for a project at its plant in Alabama, USA. In India, Ford is using the EcoCFlex system for the production of a new engine. The US manufacturer chose the innovative EcoCFlex system due to its expandability which will enable it to keep up with increases in production.
About EcoCFlex and EcoCTrans
EcoCFlex: Maximum flexibility
The EcoCFlex system combines proven cleaning processes with the flexibility of a completely integrated 6 axis robot. This enables the system to be integrated into running production processes and to cover for production peaks. Thanks to the robot system, the cleaning process can be easily and quickly adapted to accommodate different workpieces. One highlight of this system is the new robot gripper. Whereas many grippers are designed according to the workpiece with the associated costs of adaptation, the EcoCFlex gripper can be easily adjusted to suit different workpieces and meets all of the requirements of a state-of-the-art cleaning system. In addition, the system offers high levels of safety, operates under the most difficult wet chemical environmental conditions and can handle workpieces of up to 70 kg.
All of this means that the system meets the demands on top quality cleaning, maximum flexibility and profitability with a footprint around 40% smaller than other systems. In addition, Dürr Ecoclean has reduced the electricity and water consumption as well as the total life cycle costs.
EcoCTrans: High-performance with modularity
EcoCTrans is a high-performance transfer cleaning system with a modular design. Its individual components are based upon proven transfer technology put together in a completely new way. As a result, the new system is extremely compact and can be easily extended with extra components or whole units: from exhaust air cleaning and processing to cyclone separators and centrifuges. With high adaptability to the various shapes of different workpieces and to different cleaning requirements, EcoCTrans offers exceptionally high levels of throughput for a transfer system.
