Hydrocarbons – no problem
If it is a case of non-halogenated solvents for parts cleaning, then normally the term hydrocarbons is used. Apart from the actual hydrocarbons, this term also includes other non-halogenated solvents, e.g. modified alcohols and mixtures of several compounds. Optimum cleaning performance, good environmental compatibility and low operating costs make them an attractive alternative to chlorinated solvents.
These hydrocarbons are flammable and mostly have a flash point over 55°C, so they belong to those subject to the directive for flammable liquids (VbF A3). Explosion protection measures are not required if the solvent is used at temperatures at least 15°C below its flash point or if in the event of higher application temperatures, the risk of explosion is excluded through the use of an appropriate vacuum.
Hydrocarbon cleaning systems from Dürr Ecoclean have been successfully used for many years, some for very demanding cleaning jobs, also in the fine and finest cleaning environments. The single chamber systems are designed for a multi-stage cleaning process – cleaning, rinsing, vapour degreasing and vacuum drying.
